During the months of June, July and August 1997, a "Picture of Health" screening programme was carried out for all MOE staff. The "Picture of Health" is a health screening programme offered by the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to Government Ministries and departments as part of the PS21 Healthy Lifestyle Programme.

On 8 August 1997, the staff and students of Chua Chu Kang Secondary School invited residents from Bukit Batok Home for the Aged to join them in their celebrations in their school. After a briefing by the Superintendent of the Home, the teachers sang to entertain the members of the Home.
