As part of Founders’ Day, the staff proudly presented a musical drama, "Noah and his Ark". The serious message in Noah’s story, presented in an entertaining manner, incorporated the school’s 1997 theme - to know, to care, to preserve, to succeed. The theme was proposed by staff using the school’s acronym (KCPS).

The entire staff of MOE HQ gathered on the morning of 8 August 97 to sing the National Anthem and say the pledge. This was followed by a speech by our Minister who called upon all officers in the Ministry to respond to the vision of "Thinking Schools, Learning Nation".

Stretching Beyond Our Horizons
Bedok North Primary School

The staff of Bedok North Primary School went for their retreat to Pulau Ubin where they participated in a 3 kilometre walk through the rural island. This was followed by a sharing session on "Motivating Pupils" by Miss Tan Teng Wah, the principal of Anderson Junior College, and a Health Talk by Dr Choy Mei Yee,a private practitioner.

Maris Stella High School
4 July 1997

Maris Stella High School celebrated Youth Day with a carnival. Carnival spirit filled the air, with contests and games organised by teachers and food prepared by parents. Students guessed the ‘croonies’, ‘sexy legs’, ‘baby face’ and dunked their favourite teachers. In all, $5,390.00 was raised for the Singapore Cheshire Home.
