LAUNCH OF CHINESE CREATIVE WRITING WEBSITE

          "Free To Express - Creative Writing Is Fun", the first Chinese Language creative writing website designed with the local context in mind, for secondary school and junior college students, will be launched by Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister for the Environment, at Anglo Chinese School (Independent) on 8 Aug 2002 at 1100 hrs.

2.        By providing rich and interesting multimedia resources and regular updates, the website aims to promote creative writing in a fun way. Its interactive writing activities help stimulate students' imaginations and generate new ideas for writing. This web-based learning tool is also a useful portal for CL teachers to be innovative in the teaching of creative writing.

3.        Teachers and students will be able to benefit from the website's following features:

A Multimedia Resource Library that contains interactive writing activities for the practice and mastery of various genres as well as micro skills in writing;

A gallery that publishes students' compositions as well as teachers' comments;

A bank of words and phrases which students could refer to when writing compositions;

A forum that allows both students and teachers to participate in online discussions and post comments on specific topics; and

A Progress Management System that tracks students' participation level and performance.

4.        Initiated and designed by the Educational Technology Division of the Ministry of Education, co-developed and hosted in Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), the website is a collaborative effort between MOE and ACS(I). Teachers from ACS(I), Raffles Girls School, Victoria School and Nan Chiau Secondary School have contributed to the content of the website.
