MINISTRY OF EDUCATION INVESTITURE CEREMONY FOR
2001 NATIONAL DAY AWARDS
Four hundred and twenty-two
(422) recipients from schools, the Ministry of Education (MOE) Headquarters and its
Statutory Boards were awarded the 2001 National Day Awards at an Investiture Ceremony on
Saturday 19 January 2002. They include 31 officers who received the Commendation Medal, 78
the Efficiency Medal, and 313 the Long Service Medal. The Minister for Education, RAdm
(NS) Teo Chee Hean, officiated at the ceremony. The Senior Minister of State for
Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the Minister of State for Education, Dr Ng Eng Hen,
and the Parliamentary Secretary (Education), Mr Hawazi Daipi, were also present.
2 Thirty-three (33) officers from MOE
were conferred higher medals earlier, in November 2001. Of these, two officers were
awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold), 11 the Public Administration Medal
(Silver), and 20 the Public Administration Medal (Bronze).
3 In all, a total of 455 officers from
MOE were awarded the 2001 National Day Awards.
4 The Commendation Medal is awarded to
selected officers who have demonstrated efficiency, competence and devotion to duty for
special performance under difficult circumstances. The Efficiency Medal is given to
selected officers who have made contributions leading to higher work productivity in their
field of work. The Long Service Medal is presented to selected public officers with at
least 25 years of service in recognition of their service and contributions to Singapore.

recipients and thanks them for their contributions.
